Progress Update: Nov 30

Well, we finished up level 7 yesterday, and also started and finished level 8 today. I'm really happy with our progress, and, if we're lucky, there will be another update by about December 4th - 6th. Less than a week away!

We are still hoping to add at least another enemy, but, we'll see. Also, for those of you who have heard of our game, Out of the Past, you may notice a certain giant snake in level 10 ;)

Slow Progress

We haven't made a lot of progress recently. In fact, we only just started level 6. This has mainly been because both The Berryster and I have been too busy, and we have both bee fixing constant bugs that people have reported, and we notice ourselves.

I'm not saying the game is loaded with bugs or anything, but there are a few things that pop up now and then, that need attention - and sometimes something that seems small, can turn out to be a little bit larger than we first realized.

Anyways, we still have been making progress. We added a new enemy, as well as finished level 5. Level 6 is completed, and level 7 is now underway.

You can expect a new demo in early December though. We plan to pick up our speed.

Demo Release: Nov 22

We have a new demo! It took us a bit longer than we had hopped (aiming for 8-10 days), but, we now have a working demo, with 5 levels, a boss fight, a new enemy, and MUCH more!

List of changes and updates:
-Engine Updated and improved
-New enemy added
- 4 more levels added
- Boss fight
- Level selection screen
- NPC house
- Lots of platforming things (such as moving platforms, etc)
- Working save files
- New backgrounds and sprite improvements
- Wall jumping
- MUCH more!

Progress Update: Nov 16

Well, I was planning on editing my last post, with the rest of the news, but I guess I was not able to right away... So, I'm just posting a new progress update.

OK, so, we finished level two yesterday, and everything is working correctly in that level. We are now working on level three, and hope to finish it today, although by the looks of it, it probably will not be finished until tomorrow.

Today, we also added a new enemy - but we are going to keep it a secret until we release the newest version - which will still be about a week away. Before we can release the next version though, we would like to finish level 3, 4, and 5, a boss, and some other things that will make the gameplay more interesting.

Another thing that we are going to do is make there be different "areas" in the game. each area contains 5 levels, and a different "theme". The theme in the first five levels are "jungle", the second will be "caves/caverns", 3rd will be "rivers/waterways", and the last will be "Snow/Mountains".

This would add up to a total of 4 areas, and therefor 20 levels. We would have liked to be able to add more, but we don't think we will have enough time to do so with only 48-49 days left in the competition.

Progress Update: Nov... something?

I honestly don't remember the date, but this progress update is pretty much from when we released the last version, to now.

We have made a huge amount of progress. Level two is completed, with some new features, bugs have been fixed, more graphics have been added, the menus and level selection screens are basically completed.

Demo Delay

We were a bit busy, and did not have time to work on the game all that much, so the demo had to be delayed a bit. But, we will hopefully have everything set up and ready by tomorrow.

Progress update: Nov 5th

Okay, today, we got a bit of work done on the game (hooray!).

We finished up the first and second enemy (coding and spriting), and they are not implemented in the game. The first level is now also mostly completed, so you will be seeing a demo before or on Saturday (for those of you who check back here). The demo will include the intro, menu, story introduction, and level 1, as well as two enemies, and one NPC.

Progress Update: Nov 2nd-3rd

We got a bit of work done on the game today. The second enemy is completed, and the first enemy just has to have a few coding things to sort out before it is completed too.

Otherwise, today has been a bit unproductive. Tomorrow, we will finish up the first enemy, as well as hopefully finish level one.

Short post, but it's all I got to say right now.

Progress Update: Nov 1st-2nd

The main reason this blog was created was to post our progress on the game. This lets other people who are interested in the game know whats happening, as well as keep us on track. Currently, our progress is slow - I was hoping we could get the first 5 levels done by the 5th of November, but currently, we are just starting the first.

I am hoping, that with a development blog, we can see how much we have done, and from there, work on the game more, or less, depending on our current state.

Anyways, yesterday was another day of not too much work. We got the second enemy almost completed - I just need to add a few final touches - as well as the first enemy basically completed, except for the running animation.

The first level is now underway, and being worked on, the hud has been added in, and it now shows the health.

We hope to finish the second enemy today, and continue work on level one, as well as finishing one of the main NPC's sprite.

ChimpVenture: Dev-blog

ChimpVenture is a game being developed by Liam and Noel Berry. We first started making it in mid August, but since then have recoded and changed the graphics considerably.

We hope to finish ChimpVenture by early January, for the fourth YoyoGames competition.

Anyways, I'm going to keep this short for now, but you will be able to check back here, hopefully daily, for updates and news about what we are currently doing with the game.
